Obituary of Vivian Wilson
Putnam-Vivian (Veilleux) Wilson, 74, of Matulaitis Nursing Home, Putnam, passed away at UMASS Medical Center on Thursday, August 14, 2008, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Danielson, CT on May 22, 1934, she was the daughter of Louis and Irene (LaPierre) Veilleux.
Vivian grew up in Grosvenordale, CT and attended St. Joseph School.
On May 5, 1956, she was married to Walter (Jack) L. Wilson, Jr. at St. Joseph Church in North Grosvenordale, CT. They settled in Putnam, CT. Together, they made a loving home for their five children. Vivian was devoted to the care of her family. She was active in 4-H, the Grange and the Ladies Auxiliary. Vivian worked for Belding Corticelli for many years, until her retirement in 1988. She was an Avon Lady for most of her life, winning many awards for sales from the company. Vivian loved cooking, dancing, watching old movies and painting. She was a devout Catholic, a communicant of St. Mary Church of the Visitation in Putnam for most of her adult life. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and friends.
Vivian is survived by her husband of 52 years, Walter L. Wilson, Jr., her five children, Jacqueline Audette and her husband, Raymond Audette of Thompson, Walter Wilson III and Debbie Wilson of Putnam, David Wilson and his wife, Donna Wilson of Plainfield, Susan LaCoille and her husband Randy LaCoille of Putnam, Alice Blanchard and her husband Bruce Blanchard of Putnam.Vivian was blessed with nine grandchildren, she was predeceased by Valerie Wilson and Paul L. Walmsley. Her surviving grandchildren include Aaron Audette, Jillian Audette, Dan Blanchard and his wife, Jacquelyn, Mark LaCoille, Rebecca Lafortune and her husband, Tim, Eric Wilson and Jonathan Wilson. Vivian was also a great grandmother to Avery Blanchard, Calista Blanchard and Connor Lafortune. Vivian is survived by two sisters, Lucille Laflamme of Ellington, CT and Constance (Penny) Turenne of Southington, CT and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, August 20th at 10:00 am from the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at Most Holy Trinity Church, 568 Pomfret Street, Pomfret Center, CT Calling hours from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, August 19th at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The American Cancer Society, 106 Route 32, Franklin, CT, 06254. To share a memory "Light a Candle" at www.smithandwalkerfh.com
