I have fond memories of having Mr. Pempek as my elementary school principal. A fair and kind man, one who was easy to talk to and not feared as many princiapls are. The smile seen in this photo is how I remember Mr. Pempek.

I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Pempek throughout my life. First, as my sixth grade teacher at Riverside Grammar School in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Then as a secretary at Griswold Elementary School when he was principal. And finally, as a fellow Board of Education member. In each instance he treated me well and with respect. I will miss him. My thoughts are with his family. May they daily grow more fond of his memory.
