Obituary of Virginia N. Sherman

Virginia N. Sherman, 94, of North Woodstock, died Wednesday at the Douglas Manor in Windham. She was the wife of the late W. Aner Sherman, he died in 1977. She was born September 12, 1914 in North Brookfield, MA, daughter of the late Frederick and Gertrude (Brown) Rowley. She had made her home in Woodstock most of her life, a member of the East Woodstock Congregational Church, and the Ladies Benevolent Society. She was a life long member of the Grange and the Order of Eastern Star. She lived and worked on the Sherman family dairy farm for many years. She was a volunteer at the Day Kimball Hospital with over 14,400 volunteer hours since 1977, most of them in the Intensive Care Unit. She was very active in the community and was always giving to others. She was known for her enthusiasm for baking and especially for her Christmas Cookies that she would give away. She leaves a son Dr. Bruce Sherman and his wife Cynthia of Woodstock; three grandchildren: Kelly Faber, Kara Sartain and Kale Kamuda; a sister: Miriam L. Rowley of Woodstock; several nieces and nephews including Kenneth Sherman and his wife Deborah and Allen Sherman and his wife Marilyn and their children. She was predeceased by her siblings Frederick, Rachel and Hazel. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday Dec 6th at 10:00 AM at the East Woodstock Congregational Church, 220 Woodstock Road, East Woodstock.
