Obituary of Oliver E. Lapierre
Eastford - Oliver E. Lapierre, 76, formerly of Moosup, CT passed away after his courageous battle with leukemia, with his loving family by his side, Saturday, February 23, 2013 at his home in Eastford. Beloved husband of Marion (Ives) Lapierre, they were married July 27, 1970. Oliver was born May 7, 1936 in Concord, NH, son of the late George Arthur and Celia (Labonte) Lapierre.
He was a graduate of Norwich Tech (Automotive). He served in the United States Army. He worked for the Plainfield D.O.T. and was a Master Mechanic for the Motor Pool at the University of Connecticut. He enjoyed metal and woodworking, modified stock car racing with Bill Slater, UCONN sports, antique car shows, where he received several awards with his Model A, was a NASCAR fan.
He is survived by his wife: Marion (Ives) Lapierre , two daughters: Kim Stanton of Pomfret, Wendy Roy of Eastford, and three sons: John Vinal of Eastford, Paul Vinal and his wife Anna of Putnam, David Vinal of Pensacola, FL; brothers; Roger Lapierre of Coventry, Maurice Lapierre of Plainfield, Arthur Lapierre of Moosup, sisters: Mary Conover of Eastford, Laura Baker of Moosup, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM with a service at 8:00 PM at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Concord, NH. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Oncology Department, c/o Dr. Dulala, Backus Hospital, 326 Washington Street, Norwich, CT 06360.
