Obituary of Calvin A. Lester
Calvin A. Lester, 90 of Riverside Drive, North Grosvenordale, formerly of Putnam. Passed away peacefully Friday at home after a long battle with emphysema. He was the beloved husband of Christine (Skillman) Lester; they were married October 24, 1944, celebrating their 64th wedding anniversary. He was born October 8, 1918 in Wilson AR, son of the late Calvin and Mary (Simpson) Lester.
He was a maintenance mechanic and welder working for Loos and Company for over 13 years retiring in 1975. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Navy. Calvin and his wife enjoyed traveling; in 1985 they spent 24 months on the road, traveling the United States and Canada in their camper. He was an avid bird watcher and had a great passion for reading. Calvin was a former member of the Cornerstone Quinebaug Masonic Lodge AF & AM and was a Past Master. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He leaves in addition to his wife Christine, his children : Lawrence Lester and his wife Kathleen of Jacksonville, FL; Lee Beausoleil of Putnam; Lori Lester of Great Falls, SC; Lyn Lester of Dayville; grandchildren: Amy Beausoleil Ranton and her husband Preston of Branford; Crissy Lester of Clinton, TN. Funeral Services will be private with burial in Putnam Heights Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of NECT, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260 www.smithandwalkerfh.com
