Obituary of Ryan A. Smith

Pomfret - Ryan Smith, 25, died unexpectedly January 8, 2009. Ryan, son of Sherwin and Sharon Smith, was born in Putnam on March 11, 1983. He attended Woodstock Schools and Ellis Technical School. Ryan married Ashley (Webster) Smith on September 29, 2007.

Prior to his death, Ryan had worked for ABC Tree Company. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, snowmobiling and many other outdoor activities. He was a passionate, caring person, a great friend, a loving husband and always willing to help anyone with anything they might need. All who knew him are deeply saddened by his loss. Ryan volunteered on Putnam EMS as an ambulance driver.

His wife Ashley Smith of Pomfret survives him, as well as his mother and father, brother and sister in-law Daniel and Kelly Smith of Woodstock, sister Lisa Martel of Dayville. His nephew Mark, niece Alexis, mother in-law Betty Lucier of Putnam, father and mother in-law Ronald and Becky Webster of Woodstock Valley survive him as well.

The memorial service will be 11:00 am, Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. Burial will be private.
