Obituary of Janet Beverly Kolat
Janet Beverly Sanger Kolat
January 28, 1936 - January 22, 2009
Woodstock and Putnam- Janet Beverly (Sanger) Kolat, 72, of Putnam, went to be with The LORD on Thursday, January 22, 2009. She was predeceased by her husband, Emeryk Kolat, in 1989. She was born January 28, 1936 in Putnam, the daughter of the late Hobart and Evelyn (Calhoun) Sanger.
She made her home in Putnam most of her life. Janet was a graduate of Woodstock Academy and attended Elim Bible Institute in Lima, NY. She was previously employed at American Optical and then as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Matulaitis Nursing home over a span of 23 years. Janet had many interests that included her love of flowers, caring for stray cats, sending/receiving cards and letters, having lunches out with friends and playing board games with her family. She was also a gifted pianist, playing by ear. Until her home going, Janet had been a long time member of the East Putnam Community Church serving her God and Savior in their music ministry, prayer chain, Nominating Committee, nursery care, Missions Committee, Women's Christian Outreach and personally transporting shut-ins. However, Janet felt her primary spiritual function was her personal intercessory prayer.
She leaves a son, Glenn Kolat and his wife, Olga of Putnam, CT.; a daughter, Marilyn Kolat of Darlington, RI.; and a son Brian Kolat and his wife, Kitty of Taylors, SC.; also grandchildren, Renee', Kristin, Johanna, and Hazen; and great granddaughter, Tigerlily; a sister, Dorothy Shiers and her husband William of Halifax, Nova Scotia; a brother-in-law, Alphonse Kolat and his wife Evelyn of Putnam; a sister-in-law Helen Lulli of Las Vegas, NV.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Janet was predeceased by her daughter Beverly (Kolat) Briggs and a brother Hobart "Lee" Sanger.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, January 25, 2009 at 3:00pm at the East Putnam Community Church, 250 East Putnam Road, East Putnam, CT. 06260.
