Dear Elaine, I was stationed with Jim at the CG Academy and on the CGC Eagle and even though it has been many years since I've seen Jim I still think of him as a great friend. I am so thankful that he knew the Lord. We will look forward to seeing him in heaven. Dale & Nan Owens

I only knew James for a very short time, in that short period he became a very good friend. There was never a time that I saw him that he didn't have a smile on his face. When my dad was going through rough period last year with his triple bypass, and us finding out that he is in early stages of kidney failure, James was there for me, he would see me sitting in the back pew of church he would come over to me and give me a light tap on my shoulder and say i don't see that smile you have, then would say he is going to be fine he is in God's hands that would bring my smile out. He was so encouraging to me when I was down. Sometimes he would just say to me smile and I would and his grin was so huge I would start laughing. He was a wonderful man and I am going to miss him dearly. When Marty called me and said he had passed away I made sure I was off work just so I could attend his funeral,I am so happy I did. The words that were spoken about him was so touching, and when his daughter read her letter to him I lost it, it was so touching Marty and I sat there and cried and cried. He is now with our Lord looking down on everyone with his wonderful smile, that alone brings joy to me. Thank You Jim for the last year being a friend to me. Rest in peace.
