David Packard, 61 of West Quasset Road, Woodstock, CT, died unexpectedly Friday, February 22, 2013 in Winter Haven FL. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Gaffney) Packard. He was born January 29, 1952 in Shrewsbury, MA, son of the late Henry and Norma (Lombardi) Packard. David was a machinist. He was the owner and president of David Packard Company in Oxford, MA and of Machining Technologies of Webster, MA. David had a passion for barefoot waterskiing and died doing what he loved, skiing at the World Barefoot Center in Winter Haven Florida. He was also an accomplished pilot and loved to fly. In addition to his wife Kathleen of Woodstock, he leaves three stepsons Anthony Dipietro and his spouse Maria of Leominster, MA, Jason Dipietro of Shrewsbury, MA and Matthew Dipietro of Oxford, MA, four grandsons Tyler age nine, Dylan age six, Anthony age three, and Vincent age one; two brothers John Packard and his wife Lorna of Charlton, MA; Richard Packard and his wife Sandra of Rhode Island; two sisters Claire Garabedian and her husband Wayne of Grafton, MA; Susan Crawford and her husband Stanley of Brooklyn, CT, several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He will be dearly missed by many. Calling hours will be Friday, March 1, 2013 evening from 6:00 to 9:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 8:00 PM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home. 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT.
