Obituary of Patricia M. Lempicki
Patricia M. Carey Lempicki, 66, of Wells, ME and formerly of Pomfret, CT, died March 2, 2009 in the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, NH after a long illness. A native of Putnam, CT, Pat spent most of her formative years in Pomfret. She is a graduate of Pomfret Community School, Putnam High School and attended the University of Connecticut. Pat spent most of her working career in supervisory positions in agencies of the State of Connecticut and retired several years ago as the Human Resources Supervisor of the Judicial Marshal Services.
Pat was the daughter of the late Walter and Kay Carey of Pomfret, and was married to the late Stanley Lempicki of Webster, MA. She is also predeceased by her long time companion, Charles Washburne, with whom she shared a love of antiques and the sea. Pat lived most of her adult life in Connecticut, mainly in Brooklyn and Canterbury. During that time she was an active member of the Red Hat Society, "Chances R We're Divas" Putnam and involved in planning alumni functions for Putnam High School's Class of 1960. She realized a dream several years ago when she relocated to Wells, Maine and purchased a home on the salt marsh. She operated an antiques consignment business in Wells, and also enjoyed watching birds and other wildlife that populated the marsh just off her deck.
Pat leaves her son, Christopher Lempicki of Wells, ME, her brother and sister-in-law: Michael and Nicole Carey of Winsted, CT, two grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews. A generous and caring woman who made friends wherever she went, Pat will be missed by her many friends and acquaintances including those at Mozzarella's in Dayville, CT and the Front Porch in Ogunquit, ME. Pat was a kind and generous woman who touched everyone she met.
Calling Hours will be Saturday, March 7, 2009 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a Celebration of Pat's Life at 12:00 Noon at the Funeral Home.
