Obituary of Carl A. Sandberg

Carl A. Sandberg 87 of Woodstock, on March 2, 2009 went to be with his Lord and Savior. He was the beloved husband of Florence (Larson) Sandberg; they were married August 18, 1945. He was born June 1, 1921 in Bronx, New York, son of the late Thure and Julia (Asenius) Sandberg. He attended schools in Bronx, NY. Carl worked for 35 years for the former Southern New England Telephone Co. (AT&T), he retired in 1983. He was a veteran World War Two serving in the US Army. In 1956 he moved from Darien to Woodstock, he was a faithful member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Woodstock, serving the church in many capacities over the years. Carl enjoyed gardening and fishing. He leaves in addition to his wife Florence of 63 years, his children: Linda F. Smith and her husband Gary of North Stonington; Paul D. Sandberg and his wife Peggy of Dubuque, Iowa; Nancy MacQueen and her husband Joseph of Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a niece and a nephew. He was predeceased by a sister: Ruth Adell. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Evangelical Covenant Church, 24 Child Road, Woodstock, CT. Burial in the spring in Elmvale Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Memorial Fund of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Woodstock, CT. The Smith & Walker Funeral Home, Putnam is in charge of the arrangements.
