Obituary of Lucille J. Provencher
Lucille Jeffryes Provencher, 73, of Hawkins Street, Danielson, died Wednesday morning July 3, 1996, at her home after a long illness. She was the wife of Ernest J. Provencher, they were married August 3, 1947 in Gering, NE. She was born October 30, 1922 in Bassett, NE, daughter of the late Harold J. and Margaret (Van Winkle) Jeffryes.
Mrs. Provencher was a school teacher at the Killingly Memorial School in Danielson, She taught at the school for over twenty one years, she retired in 1992. For several years after retirement she was a volunteer at the Northeast Connecticut Regional Adult Education in Danielson. She was a graduate of the Class of 1940, Alliance High School, Alliance, NE, She attended Peru State Teachers College, and received her teaching degree from Eastern Conn. State University in 1970. She was a resident of Danielson for over forty nine years, a member of the Danielson United Methodist Church, a member of the Woodstock Country Square Dancers for over twenty years and served as President and Treasurer for several years. Mrs. Provencher was a member of the Killingly Educational Association, Connecticut Educational Association and the National Educational Association. She was a veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Army.
She leaves in addition to her husband one son: Bruce Provencher and his wife Donna of Danielson; two daughters: Suzanne Cimochowski and her husband John of Woodstock; Sandra Anton and her husband Andrew of Niantic; three sisters: Genevieve Landrigan of Bridgeport, NE; Velma Reed and Betty Shubert both of Gering, NE; five grandchildren: Brad Provencher; Kyle Provencher; Lindsey Cimochowski; Matthew Cimochowski; Tyler Anton, several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held July 14 th (Sunday) at 2:00 PM at the Danielson United Methodist Church, 9 Spring Street. Danielson. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private. In lieu of Flowers donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of Northeast Connecticut P.O. Box 203, Pomfret Center, CT 06259 or The United Methodist Church of Danielson Building Fund, 253 Westcott Road, Danielson, CT 06239. The Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam is in charge of the arrangements.
