Obituary of Dorothy M. Lajoie

Dorothy M. Lajoie, 99, of Dayville, died Thursday, April 9,2009 at Westview Health Care. She was the wife of the late Frank Xavier Lajoie, he died in 1978. She was born March 23, 1910 in Pomfret, CT, daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian (Lapointe) Gibeault. She had made her home in Dayville most of her life, in her youth she danced in Cabarets. She had a great love for animals. She enjoyed walking, word puzzles, eating out and spending time with her family. Dorothy had worked in the kitchen at Westview for over 17 years. She was a communicant at the former St. Anne Church in Ballouville. She leaves her grandchildren, Robert Rush of Woodstock; Bruce Rush of Webster, MA; Mark Lajoie of Dayville; Rhonda Lajoie of Danielson; Debra Heath of Danielson; Tammy Lajoie Garnier of Dayville; a daughter-in-law Shirley Lajoie; 11 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; She was predeceased by her son Ward Francis Lajoie in 2003, and a grandson, Mark Lajoie, Jr. The Funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 AM from the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, Providence Pike, Dayville. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling Hours Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to any organization that cares for animals.
