Obituary of Gail P. Augustynski

Gail Augustynski, 71, of Liberty Highway, Putnam, died Saturday morning April 25, 2009 at the Norwichtown Rehabilitation and Care Center after a two year battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Born July 14, 1937 in Putnam, daughter of the late Chester and Doris (Wright) Pope. She was a lifelong resident of Putnam, employed for over 20 years a s a line cook at Frito Lay in Dayville, she had also previously worked at the American Optical. Gail will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She enjoyed fishing, cooking and took great pride in her flower and vegetable gardens. As a hobby she enjoyed oil painting and many of her paintings she generously gave to her family and friends. She enjoyed all of her pets. She leaves her three daughters: Laurie-Jo Vear and her husband Raymond of Dudley; Stephanie Blanchard of Putnam; Holly Allard and her husband Richard F. of Plainfield; sisters Tracy Goodrich and her husband Charlie of Pomfret; Shirley Lee of Colorado Springs, CO; brother Geoffrey Pope and his wife Gail of Providence, five grandchildren, Jordan Tetreault; Hailee Blanchard; Brandon Blanchard; James Vear; Brianna Vear; a great grandson Michael, several nieces and nephews, predeceased by a son-in-law, Michael Blanchard and a brother Edward Pope. A memorial service Saturday, May 2, 2009, at 11:00 AM in the East Woodstock Congregational Church, 220 Woodstock Road, East Woodstock, CT 06244 followed by a reception. Donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 106 Route 32, Franklin, CT, 06254, for the benefit of lung cancer research. Arrangements by Smith & Walker Funeral Home.
