Obituary of Charles R. Currier, Sr.
Charles R. Currier, Sr., 94 of Pomfret Center, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the Haven Health Center in Danielson. He was the husband of Beatrice (Belleavoine) Currier. Born June 16, 1915 in Abington, son of the late John Sr. and Hazel (Dickie) Currier.
He was a foreman for the State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation for many years. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the Army Airforce. Charles has made his home in Putnam most of his life, he also wintered in Florida. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He leaves in addition to his wife Beatrice, a son Charles Currier, Jr. of AZ, a daughter Mary Roy of Pomfret, three grandchildren, Rebecca Suprenant of Pomfret, Cathy Erskine of WA, Charles Currier, III of Pomfret, two great grandchildren, three brothers Frank Currier of Pomfret, Thomas Currier of Putnam, Robert Currier of FL, two sisters, Pauline Fisher of Pomfret, Hazel Sheldon of Woodstock, several nieces and nephews, predeceased by siblings, Earl, Walter, John, Gertrude and Marceline.
A Memorial Service at 11:00 AM, Tuesday May 5, 2009 at the Christ Episcopal Church, 527 Pomfret Street, Pomfret, burial in Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery. Arrangements by Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. To share a memory, Light a Candle at www.smithandwalkerfh.com
