Jim was a valued member of the North East Connecticut Civil War Round Table. His research and his books on local men who served in the Civil War especially those from from Putnam and Thompson is treasured by historians and will be invaluable source for the future.

I met Jim when I was a member of the Aspinock Historical Society. His knowledge of local and Civil War history was extensive and fascinating. More importantly, he was always friendly and welcoming, which I very much appreciated. I am so sorry to learn of his passing.

I knew Jim through Quinebaug Valley PC. Jim could always be counted on to support the club in any way he was asked. He was a member for many more years than I and older members have wonderful memories of him. I will remember his infectious laugh, his commitment to follow through and participation and his friendship. Our sincere condolences to his family who loved him well.

Jimmy was such a good man. He will be missed. I worked with him for 10 1/2 years, and if ever in need Jimmy would be there to lend a helping hand. Thank you Jimmy!! I know he loved to travel and taking pitures, and loved his history. I'm going to miss all the stories he would tell. I can say it was such a pleasure to have known him. Such a kind man, and such a good soul. You will be missed Jimmy..

I didn't know Jim that well. He was on my Photography committee for Putnam's 150th. He always had great stories (I am also a Civil War buff) and had an infectious laugh. His photos were fantastic but his personality really made him shine. Wish I knew him better. God bless.
