Obituary of Elmer E. Bates

Elmer E. Bates age 84, of Linehouse Road, North Grosvenordale, died Sunday afternoon at the Oakwood Nursing Home, in Webster, MA. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy (Aucoin) Bates, they were married October 14, 1944 in North Grosvenordale. He was born May 5, 1920 in Dudley, MA, son of the late Ernest and Viola (Lundstrom) Bates.

He was a heavy equipment operator working road construction. He also worked at Russell Harrington Cutlery in Southbridge, MA. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Navy. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed working on cars and trucks.

He leaves in addition to his wife, a son: Paul Bates of North Grosvenordale; a daughter: Paula Mike of Clackamas, OR, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by twin sons: Peter and Robert Bates.
