Obituary of Donald H. Marcy

Donald H. Marcy, 76, of South Woodstock, CT, died Thursday morning after a brief illness at the Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam. He was the beloved husband of Grace (Letters) Marcy, they were married in May 27,1967 in the Putnam Congregational Church. He was born May 1, 1929 in Putnam, son of the late Harvey L. and Elinor Marcy. He had made his his home in South Woodstock most of his life a graduate of the Woodstock Academy. A longtime member of the Woodstock Volunteer Fire Association, and had made the coffee at the Firemens Booth at the Woodstock Fair for over thirty years. Don was an Inspector for twenty five years for the Department of Motor Vehicle, working in Northeast Connecticut, he retired in 1985. He was a member of the Putnam Lodge AF & AM # 46. Don was very mechanical, he could fix anything, he enjoyed working on lawn mowers, cars and had a great love for the outdoors. He leaves his wife, two sisters: Barbara Paige and her husband Christopher of Lyndeborough, NH; Phyllis Redfield of Glastonbury, CT; a sister in law; Suzanne and her husband Al Evans of Lebanon, NH; Several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be Saturday May 14th at 11:00 AM in the Putnam Congregational Church, 175 Main Street, Putnam. Calling hours will be Saturday from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM at church. Burial in Grove Street Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Putnam Congregational Church, Church Organ Fund. P.O. Box 463, Putnam, CT 06260.
