Mike, I was just scanning the Norwich Bulletin obits and ran across your mom's. I'm sure I speak for my brother Steve in saying that we are so sorry for your loss. I remember her and your dad so well from my visits to Mechanicsville in the early 1970's. It's hard to believe that it was 30 years ago. It must have been hard living so far away, but you're fortunate to have Laurie for support. My wife, Joan, was a tower of strength for me when my mom died. It's too bad you've never met her.
Again, our love and sympathies to both you and Laurie.

I have a lot of fond memories of my Aunt Joan. When I was growing up, I use to spend a lot of my summers at her house, along with my cousin Nancy.
I got to live with my Aunt for a short time and boy could she cook. Over the years she gave me her recipe for Italian cookies and Rice pie. No matter how often I tried to make her cookies, they never came out as good as hers.
After my mother died in 2000, she was like a second mother to me.......I will miss her dearly.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Joan's family at this time. Joan was a remarkable person. Her generosity of her time and dedication to community were her great assets. Her willingness to help and support the Putnam Emblem Club #209 in all our endeavors will always be in our memory. She was a great person and we will never forget her. May she rest in peace. In sympathy and love. Donna Nason

With Aunt Joan being my Godmother, my cousin and Judy and I spend many a summer at Aunt Joan's house in Mechanicsville. One of my most vivid memories is when she occupied the apartment way in the back and the railroad track was right outside the bedroom Judy and I slept in. Every Saturday night without fail Aunt Joan would make home made beans. Then she would usually take us over to the Cascades. I loved spending many a night in that apartment. That is one of my fondest memories of Aunt Joan. Whenever I hear a train in the early morning hours or see a pot of baked beans coming out of the oven, I think of her and always will.
