Obituary of George H. P. Main
George H. P. Main, 75, of Mill Street, Putnam died unexpectedly Friday morning at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. He was the beloved husband of Claire (Labossier ) Main, they were married April 12, 1958. He was born January 29, 1930 in North Stonington, son of the late Lafayette F. and Inga Karolina (Blixt) Main.
He was a graduate of Windham High School and Windham Tech. Mr. Main was an Auto Mechanic working at the former Cormier Larrow Chrysler dealership in Putnam for 18 years and he retired in 1989 from Lavoie Auto in Dudley, MA. He had made his home in Putnam since 1958, a life member of the Putnam Fish and Game Club and the Putnam Travelers. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, growing tomatoes, working on cars, traveling with his wife, and Foxwoods. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.
He leaves in addition to his wife, daughters: Susan Lucier and her husband Keith of Jacksonville, Fl; Sandra Main and her fianc Mark Dexter of Woodstock; Laura Williams and her husband John of Putnam, grandchildren Kathryn; Keith; Amy; Jonathan; Kyle; Matthew; Kendrick; Zachary; a special niece Linda Mikuliewicz of N. Franklin. He was predeceased by sisters Etna Laing and Elise Treloar
Funeral Services Sunday at 4 PM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Burial at a later date in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic.
