Glen, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad he was such a wonderful man. He always made feel so special, he even gave me a nick name (DOLL), the memories we all have from our child hood on Chapman St, what a wonderful childhood we had.You know the love I had for your mother Doris, she was like a second mom, I think now all our parents are together, remembering what great times we all had together, just like a one huge family. those memories will always keep us in each others heart. God bless you and your family. Much Love

To the Wallen Family, Sorry to hear about Wes' passing. I lived in Putnam until I moved to Arizona in 1981 and had attended PBC since childhood. I have many memories of seeing Mr. Wallen (and Doris) as I was growing up and had been in the childrens' choir. I had just seen and talked with Wes on Jan 9th at the luncheon reception at PBC after my mother's funeral; it was comforting to visit with so many people that I hadn't seen in years at PBC, where my mother had been a member for about 60 years. I know Wes will be truly missed (along with his homemade pies).

I would like to add my memory of Mr. Wallen. I remember very well his coming up to the grammar school to play his insruments with Mr. Whitman, the music teacher, when the school was putting on the concerts to show how well the kids had been learning to play their instruments. I'm sure that Mr Wallen's appearance was gratis. They helped the kids to see a couple of professional musicians playing and gave them a target for the future. I'm sure their playing boosted the quality of the music, too, when they pitched in with their instruments.
The parents in the audience were very appreciative of their work.
I saw Mr. Wallen recently at Weiss's and mentioned my appreciation.

My memories of Uncle Wes were that he was always a quiet, thoughtful man, and always a gentleman. His wide circle of friends in Putnam will miss him and his music greatly. He and my dad, Norm Warner of Danielson, shared a love of music from their days on the cruise ships. I remember many stories of their adventures. He leaves a great legacy of kindness and caring.

If Dot hasn't started to shake with giggles and perhaps burst out laughing by now I will eat Jim's saxaphone. There are no dry reeds in Heaven and no tears. Another saint goes marchin' in. Save us a spot.

Glen, I am so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I will never forget when many years ago your Mom and Dad would week after week drive all the way out to East Thompson to pick me up and take me home after choir rehearsal at Putnam Baptist Church. They were a very special couple to me.
