Obituary of Weston H. Wallen

Weston H. Wallen, age 93, of Mill Street, Putnam, died Tuesday, January 31, 2006. He was the husband of Doris (Swanson) Wallen; she died June 27, 1991. He was born June 23, 1912 in Putnam, son of the late Harry and Georgianna (Pauquette) Wallen.He was a Tool Maker, employed 33 years by E.N. Cook Plate Co., N. Attleboro, MA, before retiring in 1978. He lived in Putnam all his life and was an active and long time member of the Putnam Baptist Church. He was a musician all his life, starting with the piano at age 16 and then the saxophone which he played for 60 years. He was well known for playing the Alto Saxophone at the Colonial Club in Webster, MA. in a band they called the Geriatrics for over 31 years. He had a great love and enjoyment for music and he enjoyed fishing.He is survived by his son: Glen G. Wallen and his companion Connie Nash of Thompson, a granddaughter: Judith O'Toole and her husband Timothy of Madrid, NY, and two great granddaughters: Hannah and Beatrice O'Toole. He was predeceased by his brother Russell.A Memorial Service will be held February 3, 2006 at 3:00 pm at the Putnam Baptist Church, 170 Church Street, Putnam. Burial will be Saturday, April 22, 2006, at 11:00 am in Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Putnam Baptist Church, P.O. Box 85, Putnam, CT 06260.
