Sue & Jeff Lewis posted a condolence
Pam,
As you know, you will always be in our thoughts and prayers and we are here for you no matter what. I'm sorry we never got to know Dick, but I have learned from you what a loving, inspirational, adventurous, caring, etc. relationship you both had together; he was the "love of your life". Dick will be missed not only by you and your family but by all whose lives he touched.
Love,
Sue & Jeff

Dear Pam, I am honored to have had the opportunity to work with you and Dick while I was with Historic New England. Seeing the wonderful work that the both of you did together at Roseland Cottage was truly an inspiration to me. Bowen House was the fortunate recipient of the skills and talents of each of you, and of the beautiful way in which each of your strengths complimented the other. Thank you both for what you taught me.</b></font><br><br>

I never met Dick Russo face-to-face. We met only in our correspondence. And when we first met, he was already duelling with his fate, a prospect he met with equanimity and grace. He embraced his prospective daughter-in-law and blessed his stepson. One cannot ask more of any man than that he acknowledge his mortality and celebrate the future beyond his lifetime. He was a very fine man.</b></font><br><br>

Oh Pam,
Of course, I have no memories to share, but I want you to know that I noticed that Dick was a physically beautiful man. I am not sure why you and I are on this journey, but I can assure you that it will eventually become somewhat of an adventure. I can also tell you that I talk with Ernie every day, and i feel him around me just about constantly. My heart aches for you because I truly know what this is like.
I am sending you Light and Love and Healing Energy. God Bless you and your family.

I'm so glad I got to meet Dick. Beneath his gruff surface was a big heart, which he'd probably deny. None of us would be where we are today without him. My heart goes out to Pam and the "kids" who must continue on without him. I wish him well on his own journey.
And Pam, great choice for a picture. He looks like the Old Fisherman in the Sea.</b></font><br><br>

I FIRST MET DICK WHEN HE WAS KICKING AND SCREAMING AT HIS MOTHER FROM THE INSIDE. HIS BROTHER PATRICK WANTED A PUPPY, BUT GOT THE LITTLE WISE-N-HEIMER INSTEAD. DICK WAS THE RUNT OF THE LITTER AND TRIED TO HANG OUT WITH US "OLDER" KIDS AT ALL THE FAMILY GET TOGETHERS. I THINK WE USED HIM FOR THIRD BASE IN OUR BALL GAMES. COMMUNICATIONS TOOK A VACATION FROM HIGH SCHOOL UP UNTIL A FEW YEARS BACK WHEN WE VISITED WITH MY DAUGHTER, BETH. DICK HAD TO BE RESTRAINED AND PUT ON A LEASH TO KEEP HIM AWAY FROM HER. HE ALWAYS TALKED ABOUT HER FROM THEN ON JUST TO GET MY GOAT. THE BEST MEMORY I HAVE OF DICK IS FINALLY MAKING CONTACT WITH HIM ON E-MAIL UNDER A PHONY NAME AND HAD HIM GOING FOR WEEKS. HIS BROTHER PATRICK FINALLY CONVINCED ME TO FESS UP AND IDENTIFY MYSELF. I CANNOT PRINT THE "TERMS OF ENDEARMENT" RICHARD SHOWERED UPON ME AT THAT TIME. SINCE THEN, WE HAD BEEN IN ALOT OF 'PUTER TALK AND EVEN GOT TOGETHER A FEW YEARS BACK BY SURPRISING HIM AT WORK (ALSO UNPRINTABLE GREETINGS). DICK WAS THE ONLY PERSON I COULD INSULT TO THE MAX AND HE WOULD DISH IT RIGHT BACK..HONEST, TRUE AND A GOOD PERSON. HE WILL BE MISSED BEYOND WORDS. THE FAZZ LOVES YOU!! REST WELL.</b></font><br><br>

Dear Pam,
What a wonderful picture of Dick; I love the way it shows him in the out-of-doors. And, I enjoyed learning a little more about him through the wonderful things which were written about his musical skills, his military commitments, and his education.
Pam, my thoughts are with you; you know that, I'm sure. You were so devoted to Dick, and I think of you and Dick as "a team," always supporting each other in the most loving way. I hope you will feel the positive, yet very sad, energy I send to you, and hope you will call me or send an email when you feel able to do so.
Love,

Pammy,
As I'm sure you're already well aware, Dick left his impression on this world; Everyone and everything he touched. This can be seen most directly in Randy, Rich, Michael, and Eric.
You both were great at welcoming me to your family, well before it became "O'ficial" when Randy and I got married. I have many fond memories of our visits and conversations. Family was always at the top of his list! I remember one summer he called Randy and I answered the day I lost my summer job at the sub shop -- he asked if I'd like him to "take care of" the manager and sure enough, that manager was never seen again! He always took credit for it too!
I was honored in September when Dick invited me into "his" kitchen and taught me to make biscotti. I will have that memory always!
Though he's left, he will never truly be gone. We will continue to see the impression he left everywhere. I am thankful I got to be part of his life and yours!
My thoughts and energy are directed toward you Pam!
Love you -- Sadie</b></font><br><br>

Pam,
My heartfelt sympathies. Your loss is truly irreplaceable.
On the surface, my brother and I appeared to be very different, but we never let our different viewpoints stand in the way of our lasting friendship. We were alike in other ways -- our love of music and our great passion for life.
Karen tells me that whenever my brother and I talked together, we used "brother-speak". We had our own language and special meanings with each other.
So how do I mourn the loss of my only brother? Who could ever take that special place? No one can.</b></font><br><br>

Dear Pam,
You know Dick would have appreciated these electronic tributes. It combines two of his many attributes: being computer savvy and unpretentious.
What I will always remember about Dick was his great, even giddy enthusiasm talking about your wedding. He was as excited as you in describing the adventure and the meaningfulness of the act.
You were indeed the very best of soul mates.
How lucky I am to have witnessed your love, care and enjoyment together.
Much love,

WE WERE SHOCKED WHEN WE HEARD THE NEWS, WE'VE BEEN OUT OF TOUCH TOO LONG. TWENTY FIVE YEARS LATER, WE STILL THANK DICK FOR FOR THAT GREAT TRIP TO WEST VIRGINIA WHEN KARREN AND I MET. I OFTEN TELL TALES OF OUR EARLY MORNING "COURAGE BEERS" PRIOR TO PADDELING AND SOME OF THE COLDEST RIVER CONDITIONS YOU CAN IMAGINE.
WE WERE NUTS, AND YOUNG! IF IT WASN'T FOR ONE ANOTHER, WE JUST NEVER WOULD HAVE ACCOMPLISHED TOGETHER WHAT WE DID. I'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER DICK AS A GREAT FRIEND OF MINE. OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU PAM, MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.</b></font><br><br>

Pam,
My deepest sympathies are with you at this very sad time. I remember what a great guy Dick was, I worked with you both at The Senexet House in high school.(1984)
I remember you both so well because I had grown up in foster care and never saw a Family like yours and such a loving couple as the two of you were. You worked hard together and were always very kind to one another. Anyone that was ever around the two of you saw what,"love" really meant. I remember the boys also, which are now men, my sympathies go out to all of you! Even though I really haven't seen you in years, you and Dick have always held a place in my heart.
God Bless You,
