My deepest condolences to all of Laura's family and friends, I used to date Laura about 15- 16 years ago and although we were young and things did not work out I have always held fond memories of the time we spent together, especially our trip to Vermont!
One story I can share with you that always makes me laugh when I reminisce is the time Laura was staying with me while my parents were in Florida, I had to work in New York for a couple of days, so I had her stay at my house in Southbridge and I let her use my brand new truck. Laura had not met my Farther yet, she just knew his name was Paul and he was a retired Police Officer. Paul decided to come home from Florida the same weekend I was away, coincidently he decides to stop at the same package store Laura had stopped at to buy cigarettes, so as they pull into the parking lot my Mom asked my dad "hey isn't that Jeff's truck" (which is a small Chevy s-10 that now has 4 or 5 girls crammed into the front cab). Paul went inside and while he was having a conversation with the clerk about his returning from Florida, Laura put two and two together and figured he must be my dad, so she tapped him on the shoulder and said" excuse me you wouldn't happen to be Jeff's dad by any chance would you? Paul replied "yes I am", Laura then introduced herself as my girlfriend, and Paul said "oh! Those must be your boots under my bed then.(actually they were my new cow boy boots). They shared a big laugh and Dad insisted that Laura and her friends join them back at the house. When I got home from my trip Laura shared this encounter with lots of laughter. She was a beautiful girl, with a beautiful smile and an infectious personality.
Although I lost contact with her over the years, I was deeply saddened when I found out she had passed on. I have a special spot in for her in my heart, and I will remember her in my prayers daily.

Mary Roso posted a condolence
I was very sorry to read in the paper of Laura's death. My daughter in-law Pamela Roso introduced me to Laura when Melanie was a baby. I believe Pam and Laura worked together at Harrington Hospital. I helped Laura get her day care license and we spent many fun afternoons together.
Melanie was very good friends with my niece April they were always together in my day care. Dress up was a favorite thing for them to do together. Laura and I would take turns going to each others house so that our day care children could play together and we could visit and enjoy the company of another adult. I remember us blowing bubbles with the children and chasing bubbles all over the yard, then having a picnic of sandwiches in my back yard. We laughed a lot that day. I remember Melanie snuggling in her mom's arms with dandelion flowers held tightly in her hand, she had picked them for her mom. Laura was very devoted to Melanie. For awhile Melanie was in my day care home, I still have pictures of her in our scrap book.
I have often thought about Laura and wondered how they were doing.
I pray that God will be with you and strengthen you at this time. Melanie please know that Mary, Tom and April remember you and we care very much.

I have been friends with Laura for years, and although we didn't see eachother much over the past few years, we could always pick up where we left off when we saw eachother. Her death was a shock to me and everyone that knew her. I heard on the radio the other day "only the good die young" and in her case it's so true. I was looking around my living room the day I heard of her passing, and as I spoke of Laura on the phone to someone that didn't know her, my eyes suddenly stopped at a pair of Angel votive candle holders I have displayed in my living room, I remembered just at that moment that Laura had given those to me at least 10 or 12 years ago as a gift. I couldn't beleive it. I have replaced or gotten rid of most of my decorations from that long ago, but for some reason I held onto those candle holders, the only decorations I have from that long ago, now I know why. I will cherish those candle holders forever!
God Bless your family
You touched so many people Laura and everyone has commented on your infectious laugh that will stay with us always!

THERES AN ANGEL STANDING BY
I gaze outside my window
And wish upon a star.
I open up my heart
And let my thoughts drift afar.
A tear rolls down my cheek
As I reminisce the past.
You hardly got to live.
Your life went by so fast.
And all because someone else
Made a dumb mistake.
I don't understand why it was
Your life he had to take.
But now there's no way I can bring you back
No matter how hard I try.
Because now you're up in heaven
As my angel standing by.

Laura was a very special cousin to me. I have some great memories of when we were all very young and spending time playing in the summers...and then as time moved on and we moved away, it was always great to see her later on at parties and gatherings with relatives. I remember sharing some great stories and laughs at Gram's big birthday bash, as I introduced Heidi to her, and our daughter Katie to Melanie.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Heidi and I wish we could be there with all of you through this trying time.
Know that Laura will always be remembered and loved.

Think of Laura -
Christopher Cross
Every once in a while I'd see her smile
And she'd turn my day around
A girl with those eyes could stare through the lies
And see what your heart was saying
CHORUS:
Think of Laura but laugh don't cry
I know she'd want it that way
When you think of Laura laugh don't cry
I know she'd want it that way
A friend of a friend, a friend till the end
That's the kind of girl she was
Taken away so young
Taken away without a warning
I know you and you're here
In everyday we live
I know her and she's here
I can feel her when I sing
Hey Laura, where are you now
Are you far away from here
I don't think so
I think you're here
Taking our tears away
CHORUS

I went to Pomfret Community school with Laura. There was only about 40 kids in our entire grade, so we were all very close. Laura was one of the sweetest people I knew. I will never forget her cute giggle. One memory that sticks in my mind was in the seventh grade. Laura was wearing earrings that looked like telephones and so was I , we were pretending they were ringing in class and got caught by Mr. MacDermot, who pulled us by our telephones and told us "no phone calls were allowed in class" she was a lot of fun and a good person, I will miss her.

Laura, my neice, she was the most beautiful girl. I watched her grow up. I watched her life change from a little girl to young woman with a family. In days when I was sad, she was the one person with whom I could call and she always made me laugh. My Mom always commented...that laugh never changed. We would laugh at some things that were so insignificant when they meant so much to everyone else, that was our way of dealing with stress. She was the most loving person and loved life. I admired her for strength and courage and independece. I will miss her very much, but I know one day I will join her, so until we meet again.......I will forever remember your smile and that beautiful laugh.

I will always remember Laura's beautiful warm, loving, welcoming smile. I continue to replay (in my mind) the old movies my mom took of little Laura dressed up in a witch costume at my house in MA one Halloween. - she was very little and the black stockings were draped over her arms, and this little cherub blondie was trying so desparately hard to look the least bit scary - or "witch like". She had a million dollar smile, and a heart as big as gold. I will remember this wonderful lady, even though I have not seen her very often in the past few years. Although she is so young, she has left quite a memory for those lives she has touched - a wonderfully rich legacy. In the end, that is all God wants of us isn't it?
