Obituary of Shirley McGarry

Shirley McGarry, 85, of Putnam, died Wednesday at the Watch Hill Care and Rehabilitation in Westerly, RI. She was born November 30, 1921 in Willimantic, CT, daughter of Clarence and Josephine (Gifford) Webster. She had made her home in Putnam most of her life, moving to Westerly in 2004. She worked as a Legal Secretary for over fifty years at the Law Office of Kaminsky and Borner in Putnam. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Putnam and served as recording secretary for many years, she also served on many committees and Boards of the church and a graduate of Putnam High School Class 1939. She was a member of the Jessamine Chapter # 58 of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Putnam Grange, The Putnam Women's Club and was a member of the Putnam Republican Town Committee. She enjoyed her trips to the Ocean at Watch Hill Beach. She leaves her children; Joyce Griswold and her husband Roger of Westerly, David McGarry and his wife Jan of Ventura, CA; Her former husband David McGarry of Riverside, CA. She was predeceased by a brother Gardner Webster in 1946. The Funeral Service will be Saturday March 31st at 11:00 AM in the Congregational Church of Putnam, 175 Main Street, Putnam, CT Burial in Grove Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Memorial Fund of the Congregational Church of Putnam, PO Box 463, Putnam CT.
