Obituary of Laura Irene Ethier

Laura Irene Ethier, 97, of Putnam, CT passed away August 23, 2021 at the Villages at Waterman Lake in Greenville, RI. She was born July 16, 1924 in Woodstock, CT, daughter of the late Henry and Yvonne (Pepin) Joly. Laura was married on September 11, 1954 to Ulric A. Ethier, who passed in 1992.

Laura was a Communicant of St. Mary Church and a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She worked for Belding Hemingway for 19 years and then U.S Button as a Button Inspector until her retirement in 1986. Laura lived in her family’s home on Church Street in Putnam, until she moved to Creamery Brook Village in her 90’s. Laura was incredibly generous and will be greatly missed.

She leaves her nephew James Richard and wife Carol and their daughters Kayla Richard and Shanna Richard of Rhode Island. A great niece Kelly Richard of Murphy, North Carolina and also her cousin Thelma Fontaine. She was predeceased by her sister Stella B. Richard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence Street Putnam, CT. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Putnam, CT. Share a memory at Smithandwalkerfh.com
