Obituary of Marjorie E. Janes
Marjorie E. Janes, 65, of Woodstock Valley, CT passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021 at her home.
Born in Holden, MA in 1955, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Elizabeth (Marshall) Janes.
She graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1973.
Marjorie was a Master Gardener who liked to share her plant knowledge with others. She would offer assistance in garden design and planting information to anyone who asked for help. She would even show up with tools and help with the planting. Her love of gardening was evident in the gardens surrounding her home and places of employment.
Marjorie was first and foremost a Master Weaver. She had been weaving for most of her life. Her dishtowels were in great demand as were her scarves and other woven items. Her designs were both classic and unique. She displayed her work every year at local shows with her “must do” show being The Roseland Cottage Fine Arts Festival. She had been a participant for 38 of the 39 years it has been held. She would bring her loom and spend the day giving demonstrations on how weaving was done.
Marjorie was a compulsive list maker and took great joy in removing items as they were completed. She was an avid reader, had a wonderful sense of humor and was a great storyteller. She was generous, always going above and beyond what was required, but most importantly she was a devoted friend who will be forever missed.
She is survived by four sisters and a brother: Lorinda Fearebay and her husband Dennis of Berlin, MA, Barbara Gutierrez and her husband Arturo of Evergreen, CO, Marshall Janes of Townsend, MA, Natalie Ridge and her husband Stephen of Evans, NY, and Caroline Lomicka and her husband Jeffrey of Chelmsford, MA. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, as well as countless friends.
She was predeceased by her siblings Gregory Janes, Deborah Janes, and Joanne Strauch.
