On behalf of President Alissa DeJonge '95 and the entire Mercy High School family, I offer our deepest sympathy on the passing of Fr. John O'Neill, the brother of our cherished colleague, Sister Peggy O'Neill RSM. Through Sister Peggy, who serves as Mercy's Registrar, we know what a vibrant and beloved priest Fr. O'Neill was, and we pray for his parishioners (current and past), his LaSalette brothers, friends, and of course Sister Peggy, her siblings, and the rest of the O'Neill family. We will remember Fr. O'Neill very specially in schoolwide prayer at Mercy this week and in the weeks and months to come.

My condolences to the family and friends of Fr. John O'Neill. May Eternal rest be granted unto you father John, and may your soul rest in Eternal Peace. Always a pleasure (and blessing) to hear your sermons. You were a blessing to those of us whom witnessed your devotion to the church, whom were graced with your knowledge, and delighted in your many experiences. You certainly were a faithful servant! May God bless the repose of your soul Father.
Respectfully,

Rest In Peace Father John and thank you for the many, many blessings you have bestowed on my family and all the families at St. James School and St. James Church. There will never be enough “thank you’s” to express how deeply grateful we are to have had you in our lives. You’ve taught so many the true meaning of God’s love. You welcomed everyone into the church community without judgment or hesitancy. Your love and support of all God’s children (newborn to 99+) has been immeasurable. Glory to God in the highest as He welcomes you into His loving arms. Please know that your homilies will live on in the memories of those lives you’ve touched while spreading the holy word of God. Bless your family and friends during this time of sorrow.

Father John was one of the great ones…truer words were never spoken. Although I only knew him a short time, his impact was felt as is his loss. His stories, wit, and comforting will be deeply missed. Off to solve the worlds problems and his next great adventure. RIP John.
