Sue, May all the kind words and hugs help you, the boys, Don's friends and family in what has been the most difficult 2 weeks for all of us. I thank God for the weekend prior to Don's passing. The fishing trip with Don and Bill. His recent love for the Westerly Yacht Club,( two beers and a Tanqueray with tonic for $8.00). The deck building project and the Sunday 10am beer. He was always there and never asked for anything in return. May it never snow again...we've lost our driver.

Sue & Family,
Our prayers are indeed with you all. Over the years we have so many fond memories of all of you,it's difficult to put into words. Don is a very special person to us. This quote reminded me of Donald:
"Let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth" 1JOHN 3:18
As we all know, Donald was there for ANYONE who asked for his help. He is a living example of "do unto others"
We miss you my friend! You'll live forever in our hearts

Dear Morrison Family-
It has been several years actually more like 20 plus years since I last spoke or saw the Morrison family; however, I wanted to send my thoughts and prayers to the entire family. My grandmother, Priscilla Cyr, baby-sat for the family for many years and I had the opportunity to visit with the family during school vacations. Your family was so friendly and inviting when my brother and I would come to your house. Now Mr. Morrison is at peace. Just remember to reflect on the great times. Take care. Sincerely, Ian Webster

I did not know him too closely but I worked at the Dunkin Donuts and he was a prized customer and helped me personally with a issue that I was having. He took time to give me advice and I was more than disturbed to hear about the passing. He was a man of respect and honor. I was truely sad to hear that the only cop we have who cares about this town and the people in it is gone. I am so sorry for your loss and know he was one of the greatest men, he made a difference in everyone even people like me who did not get to know him as well as some have. God Bless.

It has taken me awhile to sit down and write this as I still breakdown when thinking that I will never see my close friend again in this world. A close friend is one that is there for you anytime no matter what the situation is. That was Donald. He would do anything for anyone. Even people he didn't care for. Whenever he came to Rowe he was always welcomed with technical questions and projects that we couldn't handle. Whatever the project was he would direct and we would follow. All projects were a success and we always had a lot of laughs doing them. And oh yea we might have had a few beverages during the process. I have so many stories but there just isn't enough room here to write.
A great husband and great father has left us and there is nothing good about Don leaving us so unexpectedly. But I did have a chance to spend several days with my sister Sue and her family. The love and support was just overwhelming. The four boys and their families were so helpful in such a difficult time. I got a chance to better know Mike and David and their families. I can see why Don always talked about them and was so proud. Sue will sure have hands full with those four boys and the nine grandchildren.
Don I will miss you dearly. Please keep tract of us all. And most of all save an old friend a cold drink.

Donald was the life blood of the Putnam PD and I just can't accept that he is gone. When I joined the Department he taught me well how things worked at the PD and how the "job" was done in Putnam. No one can always see eye to eye, but Donald was the consumate professional police officer. Honesty & integrity were bigtime inside him right behind his badge. Don, I know you would prefer no words, but you richly deserve them! I'll go get that T&T right now and raise it high in your memory. Farewell brother Off.

Donald was a great man and will be sadly missed. He was a good police officer, with compassion and common sense. I worked daily with Donald on his platoon along with Allen Kennette and Bob Beaudry back in the 1980's. He helped me as a young police officer just starting out with my career. I learned a lot from Donald, including how to treat people fairly and to use common sense. Donald's absence will be a tremendous loss to the Putnam Police Department that cannot be replaced. Good Bye Donald.

this is a note our son sent to us ...Right On
Have you ever met someone who has had a major impact on so many different lives but does not consider his actions special or an accomplishment of sorts? A person that gives and gives but never takes. That someone was Putnam Police Officer Donald Morrison who recently suffered a major heart attack and his life ended so abruptly.
As a young boy I grew up very close to Mr. Morrison and his family. My parents also stayed very close to Mr. Morrison and his family over the years. I looked to Mr. Morrison as a friend not of my parents but a friend to me. Donald was a special person and he would break his most sacred commitment to help another in need. There would be months of time before I would bump into Mr. Morrison but when I did he always took the time to catch up on how and where my life was headed. Not because he was my Father’s best friend but because he honestly wanted to know. Donald was a special person that opened my eyes to things that even up to his recent death I was unaware of. I did not realize what an impact he had on my life.
Donald was a special person and he touched so many people’s lives. Donald opened his heart and genuinely cared about helping people which in today’s society is not always reciprocated. Although Donald was a proud Putnam Police Officer his social status did not matter to him. Donald cared about people. He always wanted to lend a hand when possible. Although Mr. Morrison has received many commendations letters and awards to be proud of ; his biggest accomplishment in life would be reflected if every person that he has impacted lined up or stood as a crowd.
When a shocking event occurs like the loss of my friend Donald Morrison people react differently. I have not encountered death much and this news of a wonderful man passing at such a young age made time stand still. I immediately thought of his wife and his children and the grief that they all would endure. Then I realized that a good man has left us. My first thought was to “always remember the good times and the person that Donald was and he will live on in our hearts.” It is not often that a person can touch so many lives and be unaware of what he has accomplished. I for one can not let his personal accomplishments go unnoticed.
