It's hard to imagine the SPCA without Susan. I first met her about 9 years ago and she was instrumental in helping me learn how best to care for the animals in our care. Susan taught me so many things, and I'm going to miss her compassionate presence.

I worked with Susan at the SPCA for a number of years. She was one of the first people I met when I started working at the shelter. She helped feel at home and I quickly saw how committed she was to helping all of our animals. She would always make sure that the animals were getting the very best that she could provide. I will miss seeing Susan and Ruby strolling along side one another at work; they both brightened my day so much. My deepest sympathy to her family and friends.

I knew Susan from our time at Ithaca. She was my first friend there, and she introduced me to music like the Psychedelic Furs and Laurie Anderson. I wish I had taken the time to write to her since then.

Dear Pearce Family-We are devastated to loose Susan as a staff member but also as a friend and someone who cared so deeply for all the animals. She will be desperately missed here. I only hope that you can hold on to how many lives she has touched human and animal and how much of an amazing caring person she was. My prayers are with you but am content to know she is taking care of all the ones who have moved on.

Susan was a wonderful, caring, giving person. Not just for the animals in her care, but to her friends and colleagues. Her gentle nature and sincere compassion always resonated. She always had a happy spirit. I'm glad to have known her and her beloved Ruby, who was always by her side here at The SF/SPCA. We all miss Susan terribly.

Susan and I worked together at The SF SPCA and frequently talked. She loved Ruby who came to work with her daily and all of us shared that joy with her. She was a very special, wise woman and will be missed.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Pearce: we never actually met. I was a friend of Susan's from Ithaca College. We spent a lot of time hanging out with mutual friends, discussing life, traveling, and spending time in and around Ithaca. Susan was a very kind and loving person. Although it has been years since I have seen her, she will always have a special place in my heart. My sincere condolences to you. I will miss Susan very much.

To Susan: You were always someone to count on, someone who did their very best, a hard worker and a smart, compassionate and gentle person. I enjoyed and learned from working with you our many years together at the SPCA. I am still shocked and will always be saddened that you are gone...but at least your pain, too, is gone, and you are at peace. I will miss you.
And to Susan's family, my most sincere condolences...
