Obituary of Sharon B. Neely
Sharon B. Neely, 62, of East Woodstock, CT died Tuesday December 2, 2008. She was the beloved wife of Calvin R. Neely; they were married June 26, 1971 in the East Woodstock Congregational Church. She was born December 22, 1945 in Putnam, daughter of the late George and Barbara (Marvin) Brown, Jr.
Sharon was a graduate of the Woodstock Academy Class of 1963 and the University of Connecticut. She had made her home in East Woodstock all of her life, a member of the East Woodstock Church where she sang in the Choir and served as Treasurer. In the 1960's she was a V I S TA volunteer, teaching school in the western part of the US and later she taught first grade at the Israel -Putnam School in Putnam. Sharon was a big fan of UCONN Ladies basketball and the Boston Red Sox. She was a member of the Woodstock Agricultural Society, and served as a superintendent at the Woodstock Fair in the Handi Work Department. Sharon helped out with her husband's business Yankee Sales. She was an avid reader and her greatest love was her family and her grandchildren.
She leaves in addition to her husband Calvin, a son: Marvin Neely and his wife Theresa of Eastford; daughter Stacy Shinkiewicz and her husband Scott of Brooklyn, siblings: George Brown and his wife Pam; Susan Converse and her husband Tom; David Brown and his wife Kristen all of East Woodstock; her precious grandchildren George Neely; Adam Shinkiewicz; Amy Shinkiewicz and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and very dear friends.
A Memorial Service Friday December 5th at 10:00 AM at the East Woodstock Congregational Church, 220 Woodstock Road, East Woodstock. Burial at a later date in East Woodstock Cemetery.
