Our deepest sympathy and prayers are with you all during this most difficult time of loss. As a nurse, I had the pleasure of working with the Doc in the 70's and early 80's. Many wonderful memories of his great compassion for his patients. We no longer live in the area but I am sure his presence will be missed by many but his memory will surely live on the hearts of all those he touched.

DR.Phil will be greatly missed. He worked out at my fitness center on a daily basis. We talked about sports as a daily agenda. Bought many tickets through him.Asked him in April if he was going to retire or slow down. He said no. Too much in life to do. GREAT attitude to have. My life was much better to have known him.
GODSPEED PHIL

Phil, Bob Duhamel, Emil Bouthillier and I were classmates at Georgetown Univ. School of Medicine, Class of '61. We all came from a French-Canadian background which allowed us to converse in French to the chagrin of many.
My deepest sympathies to the Goyette Family from an ol' Hoya. Rest in peace, Phil.

Catherine Bouthillier- Menounos posted a condolence
Phil was such a wonderful, wonderful friend of my father's- Emil Bouthillier- and was always there for him sharing in both laughs and tears. Every time I think of bologna I think of the two of them. (the story is that during med. school and residency they were boarding with a woman that only gave them bologna sandwichs for years..hence Dad never ate dologna again).

Lisa Coe posted a condolence
I have had the honor of knowing Dr. Goyette for the past 13 years while working at the Villa Maria where he was our medical director for many years.
He made our day at the Villa, every Wednesday when he made rounds. He was the kind of doctor that all doctors should aspire to be; dedicated, thoughtful, and compassionate. He also had the amazing ability to make people laugh. Dr. Goyette's sense of humor is a gift that I will never forget.
To Dr. Goyette's children: I cannot remember a single Wednesday over the past 13 years when your father didn't speak of you all. He was clearly proud of his children and his grandchildren.
To "Doc", I miss you and I am proud to say that I knew you. My world is better because you walked in it.

Mr.& Mrs. Alfred Mowry posted a condolence
To all of the Goyette family, please accept our deepest sympathy in the passing of your Brother, Father, Uncle and Love one, Dr. R. Philip Goyette... Dr. Goyette was like part of every ones family in a way as he was in Family Practice. I know it has been said over and over that he was straight to the point, you may not have liked it but I didn`t mind it a bit. The truth always hurts a little, so what!
I think a good doctor is like taking your Auto in for repair, the Auto Tech gets your auto and every other custermers autos purring like a kitten but the Tech has the worst running auto on the road. I believe that our Doctor had been feeling ill for some time, but like the Auto Tech he spends all his time making the problems of everyone else go away and not taking care of his own problems.
We thank Dr. Goyette from the bottom of our hearts for all he did for us over the last 46 years or so. (I do have a pretty good heart, just have trouble now and then getting blood to it). Thanks Again, Doc....R.I.P. and God Bless!
Always in our Prayers. Al & Jane.
P.S.
We really think you picked a good Doctor to fill your shoes (sneekers). We trusted you all these years and we trust your pick in your replacement.

Jim doesn't have the school days memories since he went to school in Killigly. There were always rumors after Phil did the girl's physicals! Later we both have memories of the break room at the DKH Er and the ER Christmas parties out at Ohhoho. It's the end of an era. Sympathy to all the friends and family.

Dr. Goyette was my Grandmother's Doctor, My Dad's Doctor and proud to say he was my Doctor. We all loved him. His conversations with me during my visits made me feel more like a friend than a patient. Thank you Dr. Goyette for your care for me and my family and giving my Dad the extra care during his last days in DKH.

We have so many fond memories of Phil from the Villa. He had such a different sense of humor than most. He always made us laugh. Phil was a smart Doc who said how it was, not always what you wanted to hear, and I believe that many many people respected that. We certainly did. We will miss him terribly. Our sympathy goes out to his family. God Bless. Bruce and Cindy

Phil was my medical knight in shining armor. He literally saved my mother's life, he was a good friend to my husband, and he made my children and me feel safe in the risky world of maintaining good health. He was such a great diagnostician and a doctor who knew his patients so well, he understood what factors were playing in their lives. The world won't seem the same without him in it.
I also want to comment on his charity to the elderly and the poor. He cared for everyone no matter who they were. His type of doctor is a rare breed.

Dear Dr Phil,
We will all miss you so. All you've done for so many.

Some of my fondest childhood memories of my brother were the summers we spent at our summer cottage in Pachaug near our grandparents' farm. The days were filled with following our Uncle Edgar around the fields and riding on top of the hay wagon, while Phil and Paul helped with the haying. He was a great brother, always ready with a helping hand and a joke or a tease. We will all miss his great smile and "messy hair".

Dr. Goyette thank you for 40 years of the best medical care available. You even won over the confidence of my husband who had a fear of doctors like one couldn't imagine. After he got to know you he made you laugh and vise versa. May your journey be enlighting and rewarding.
