Tammy posted a condolence
I am writing to all of you on behalf of myself and KC ...You have all made Kris' illness a little bit easier to deal with, let me explain..Kris and I are extremely rich not because of monetary things but because of our children, our family , our friends, our community. You have stepped forward to dry our tears, hug us and reassure us that you will not back away you will be there to pick us up when we can't find the strength, you were there to tell us you love us and that will stay with us forever no matter how much time goes by...We love you all..Thank you--Love, Tammy

Hey dad. I wrote a poem for you:
Days like these,
We will remember them forever.
And it's hard to endeavor,
Life without your sweet embrace,
That would take us all away to a special place.
But like you said:
You did your best,
You won the race.
You watch over us like you never had.
Lift us up when times are bad,
Cheer us up when times are sad.
We are always thinking about you,
Yesterday,
Today,
Tomorrow.
We give you our hearts.

Dear Brother Kris:
All I can think of are the good times we had together. I've missed you since your passing but I hold precious all the times we spent together laughing and crying and loving life. You have amazing friends and their support will help your family for years to come. Tammy and the kids have been touched by you and the life you had together. They truly loved you and you them. You are an excellent father and husband and I am sure you are watching over them to protect them now and forever. Some day we will be together again and I believe heaven looks a little like Ocean City. Hope it is everything that you dreamed of. I love you, your sister, Ness

dad- I dont even know where to begin, I'm sure I can go on and on about how much of a difference youve made on my life along with so many other people, some I've never even met. You took Jay and I under you arms from day one. You never even skipped a beat. Our family coming together was the missing puzzle piece, it was our happily ever after. You showed us how to love the life we live and live the life we love. I remember the time when I took a bubble bath and wanted to play with three barbies and mom said,"no only one". You looked at her and said, "what difference would it make, if it'll make her day, why not?" She obv couldnt argue with that statment and I got my three barbies.=) Thats the thing about you and mom. It was always all about the kids..even if they werent your own. Everyone who came to the house was part of our family and I know many people will agree with that. Alittle after you got diagnosed with ALS Jay and I seperatly went up to you, not even discussing this with eachother, asked to legally change our last names to carlson. You looked at us with those smiling eyes and said, I dont need a peice of paper to prove to everyone that your my kids.
Dad youre my hero. A day hasnt passed that you havent crossed my mind. Youll be so deeply missed, I love you so much, we all do. I'll take care of everyone and we'll get through this together. Tell nikki-do we said, "Hi!"
Save a place in heaven for us, well see you soon. Love you daddy!
<3 forever & always,
your peanut

I never knew Kris but somehow I feel I did. My daughter Melanie has reached out her heart to support and encourage Kris's family in this most difficult time. He suffers no more, yet his love ones now feel the pain of losing his presence within the family unit. I look at his picture and see the gleam in his eyes showing all that knew him, his happiness in life was true, and so will be his eternal reward. My grandson Dylan and so many other boys he encountered as THE football "coach" have been forever inspired by him. A good man was lost but through him better people have evolved. Remember the glory days and keep his memory alive.

Tammy, Jay, Erika, Jack, Mitch and Keith- This has been such a heartbreaking journey for your whole family-as you each so lovingly cared for your wonderful Kris- just as he always cared so lovingly for you. A strong, kind and thoughtful man- a loving dad- so proud of his kids (you guys ARE great kids)- Your dad's wonderful spirit will live on through each of you.
Tam, I was remembering a moment - a few years ago, we were standing on your driveway- You were saying something wickedly funny (so what else is new?!)- Kris was watching you with such love in his eyes (and amusement!)- Gosh, he was just crazy about you- still is- I'm sure of that!
I am really thankful for the short time that I got to know Kris. He will be so greatly missed-
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers -k
